REACH

The new European REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances) regulation (EC no. 1907/2006) went into effect on June 1, 2007. The essence of the REACH regulation is that companies should be aware of the risks related to all the substances they produce, process or pass on to customers and must be able to formulate measures to control these risks.

REACH is not limited to chemical producers and importers; it applies to all companies that deal with substances or preparations or substances contained in objects in any way.
All substances produced or imported in quantities of more than one ton per year must be registered with the recently established European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

Royal Nedalco registers all the substances it produces and their corresponding uses with the ECHA. It is important that the way that Nedalco customers use its substances is included in this registration. Nedalco is required to assess and record customer usage of the substances it produces, including any associated risks, as part of the registration process. Any usage that has not been recorded during registration will be banned in future.

For any questions regarding Nedalco´s position on REACH, please contact Peter Paul Hermans, Safety, Health and Environment Manager, on telephone number +31 164 213 400.

Nedalco is a member of the Ethanol REACH Association. For more information on REACH and the Ethanol REACH Association, please visit www.etoh-reach.com.
