On the 17th of February 2010 Royal Nedalco produced the last alcohol in Bergen op Zoom after more than 110 years.
During the past months we have started to replace the Bergen op Zoom material by products from our other facilities in Sas van Gent (NL), Manchester (UK) and Heilbronn (DE). The final steps of this transition are currently being completed.
The transition is carefully managed in order to have a smooth transfer for our customers. With the state of the art facilities in Sas van Gent, Manchester and Heilbronn, Royal Nedalco is well equipped to continue production and delivery of the different grades of alcohol that used to be supplied from Bergen op Zoom.
In all, the plants, the quality and specifications of the alcohol are thoroughly controlled by the experienced production staff and the strict central quality department, including the sensoric panel.
The plant itself will be carefully deconstructed; many parts will be re-used or sold. To create a safe work environment for the deconstruction team, all alcohol will have left the site well before the actual deconstruction starts.
This change is a next step in the process of delivering the land to the local government of Bergen op Zoom. Nedalco and the local council agreed to deliver the grounds clear from buildings and installation. During the next months, also the Head Office of Nedalco will be moved to another location in Bergen op Zoom. We are currently working hard on the final steps towards a new office.
